Chain Chomp Records

I received an email from Darcy Connor that caught me quite off guard. "I run Chain Chomp Records (Net-Label), I'm pretty sure it is the only Australian chiptune label. Game Music 4 All said it would be a good idea if I asked you guys to rep me on GameBoyAustralia.com." This made me grin for two reasons, one, Game Music 4 All gives a shit about us, and two, there is finally an Australian netlabel that is pure and 8-bit.

I asked for a little more information. "Well, we started just over a month ago and have 8 bands signed. All up we have had about 10 bands. We have currently only released one Album / EP, but we should have released a few more with a couple of weeks, With the second Astro Zombies / Owencakes! split, When have spoken to Luperio and will probably release his album as well. And Chiptune David's EP shouldn't be to far away. So far we only have 2 Australian bands (being Australian based) we wish to gradually increase that number. Thanks to GameBoyAustralia.com we have been able to find a lot more Australian bands, but we have yet to chat to them. We hope Chain Chomp Records is giving smaller chiptune / 8-bit bands a chance to be heard. We are the only Australian chiptune [only] label as of yet."

Check out a local Chain Chomp Records store near you. While you're there, you may also like to pick up a copy of an Astro Zombies record.

Tom

Game Boy Australia featured on GameSetWatch

Alex and I were lucky enough to be featured in a column on GameSetWatch written by our new friend (I hope) Drew.

[Jump Button is a bi-weekly column by Drew Taylor, written specially for GameSetWatch, that focuses on the art and substance of video game culture. This week – the second in a series of interviews that explores Australia's emerging 8-bit music scene.]

The article can be found here, and please do read it. His previous columns including one about DJ TR!P might also interest you.

Thanks again Drew for not making me sound like a total wanker. It is a hard task at the best of times. I can only imagine the amount of sarcasm you had to sift through to find some usable quotes.

Love,
Tom

Hidden Village: Star Maker EP

A new release from a pair of Australian chiptune titans "Hidden Village" has just hit the proverbial "stands". Little-Scale and Cloud Sparrow (the two members of Hidden Village) are some of the most talented and interesting people I have ever met. I was instantly impressed with their unique musical style (and awesome gaming collection). They will come at your ears from a more technical angle than your average and you'll think what you hear is great, wait until you see how they do it!

Love, Tom.

This is some of the footage we shot from the tour. Sorry we missed so much of it with the camera! This is a fair idea of what we did however. Hope you enjoy.
