Easter Australasian Chiptunes

Yo!

just thought I would pipe in a bit of an update of the exciting goings on this week.

Firstly this evening Melbourne has its regular plug-n-play night at 201 Smith St, Fitzroy (Kent St cafe) from 8-11pm. This event has been graced by chiptune luminaries such as Goto80 and regular Melbourne micromusican Future Eater, it is equal parts music and AV with VJ's being a key componant. Tonight the event is graced by one of Bali's Game Boy, C64 Chiptune masters Godard. I believe he will just be doing a Game Boy set as he didn't bring all his gear over and a few months ago bought an LSDJ cart from the other name behind this blog Tom. Other musos on the night are Maddest Kings Alive who are a new find for me but are a C64 group out of Perth. Plug-n-Play also has a night starting up in Sydney and has one in Perth. The Sydney night looks exclusively AV but hopefully over time some chip artists will start showing up there*.

Secondly on the Indonesian Chiptune front the second Pestamikro Festival is happening this Friday 22nd of March. With all the Indonesian Chiptune heavyweights there (excluding Godard) HelloStereo, JW86, Pickney, Local drug Store, Cacatnada... Its happening as part of the Jakarta 4th Toys and Comics Fair and includes tutorials as well as performances hopefully this festival becomes more regular than yearly and even travels south one day....

Thanks,
Alex

P.S.
It's looking like a small Australian tour is going to be taking place in the very near future with your lovely blog hosts being the tour guides. Dates will be posted soon. If you can, come and catch a show!

*Tom says he is willing to play it every week if need be.

Hey Alex, I contacted PnP Sydney, to see if I could start something with them in the chiptune avenue...

Hoping to hear back soon. Fingers crossed.
